From the second leg of Tirreno-Adriatico rides Mathieu van der Poel on a special Canyon Aeroad CFR, designed through the new MyCanyon customisation programme. The design comes from Italian artist Elena Salmistraro, known for her colourful, energetic style.
The bike immediately stands out with an explosive mix of colours and patterns, a visual spectacle that perfectly suits Van der Poel's dynamic riding style. According to Salmistraro, the design is all about modernity and playfulness - a combination that also sums up well the way Van der Poel races.

Canyon Aeroad CFR - an aerodynamic weapon
The basis of this custom bike is the Canyon Aeroad CFR, the top model in Canyon's aero range and one of the most competitive bikes in the World Tour peloton. The specifications:
- Frame weight: 960 grams (size M)
- Carbon layup: Canyon Factory Racing (CFR) level
- Aerodynamics: Wind tunnel tested and optimised for speed
- Fittings: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and carbon wheels

This bike is not only a statement in terms of design, but also in terms of performance. The benchmark stiffness-to-weight ratio and streamlined tubes ensure that the Aeroad CFR remains one of the fastest bikes in the pro peloton.
During the opening stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, Van der Poel was still riding on his Canyon Speedmax TT, but for the remaining six stages he opted for this striking Aeroad. The team has even prepared several identical frames, so that in case of bad luck he will not be left without his custom design.

With this striking combination of art and technology not only attracts Canyon's attention, but also underlines how important personalisation is becoming in top-level sport. Whether we will see this bike later in the consumer line remains to be seen. One thing is certain: on the terrain where it really matters - the race - this Aeroad now gets its ultimate test.
