Scicon Aeroshade 2.0 Titanium: new performance glasses with titanium temples and updated monoshield frame

Scicon launches the successor to the Aeroshade with medical-grade titanium temples, a redesigned frame, and a new ventilation system. Prices start at €220.

Scicon launches the Aeroshade 2.0 Titanium, a new performance cycling eyewear with medical-grade titanium temples, a redesigned monoshield frame and prices starting from €220. The Italian brand explicitly positions the glasses in the pro segment, linking the release to five years of feedback from WorldTour environments, including UAE Team Emirates. Tadej Pogačar wore the glasses recently at his fourth victory in the Strade Bianche.

Why titanium counts here

The original Aeroshade appeared in 2020 with plastic temples. The 2.0 version replaces those with adjustable temples made of medical-grade titanium. According to Scicon, that should provide more shape retention, more stable fit and better durability than conventional polymers. Titanium is more resistant to deformation from repeated mounting and depositing, reacts less to temperature changes and is corrosion resistant, which is relevant in sweat and salt.

This is offset by a slight weight increase. The new version weighs 40 grams, against 36 grams for the previous model. Although this difference is limited for cycling glasses, every gram counts in this segment.

The front frame has been redesigned and is made of Grilamid® TR90, a high-strength polymer that remains flexible enough for lens changes while being stiff enough to hold the mono-shield lens in place. The silhouette is more angular and flatter than before.

Ventilation and fit

It's new VortexFlow™-ventilation system: strategically placed openings that promote air circulation and should prevent fogging, even at lower speeds. This is relevant for those driving in winter or changing conditions.

The adjustable nose bridge allows you to set the lens height, so the field of view moves with your riding position, whether you're tucked in the drops or on the hoods. The width of the nose bridge and the temple tips are separately adjustable for a personalised fit.

The SCN-PP- lenses are cylindrical base-6 and available in three variants: Photochromic (light transmission from 15% to 91%), MultiMirror and Solid. All lenses feature anti-reflective, hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings.

Price and versions

The Aeroshade 2.0 Titanium is available in around 20 configurations. Core specifications:

  • Weight: 40 grams
  • Frame width 144 mm
  • Lens height 58 mm
  • Lens width 138 mm
  • Price: €220 (MultiMirror) / €250 (Photochromic)
  • Origin: Italy

This places Scicon in the premium segment alongside brands such as Oakley and 100%.

For cyclists with strength, Scicon simultaneously brings the Aerojet RX Titanium Out€300), a separate frame with the same titanium temples that is suitable for mono- and progressive lenses up to 4.00 dioptres. Scicon supplies the frame without power lenses; you have these fitted by an optician.

Both models come with interchangeable nose pads in three sizes. Scicon gives a lifetime guarantee on scratched lenses.
