Jonas Vingegaard's Cervélo S5 at the 2025 Tour de France

Cervélo developed the new S5 in close cooperation with riders from Visma-Lease a Bike. A new design philosophy was chosen. The brief from the team and from the company was: "Don't mess up an already great bike." An evolutionary design was therefore chosen, in which the recognisable V-shaped stem, the unique fork and head tube combination and the seat tube curved around the rear wheel remained unchanged, but were designed just a little sharper and more efficiently everywhere.

Wheels and aerodynamics

  • Spare Turbulent Aero wheel set: 57 mm front and 64 mm rear, designed as a total package with the frame.
  • Asymmetrical rear rim connects seamlessly to the seat tube for smooth airflow and exceptional stability in crosswinds.

Wattage gain

According to Cervélo, the new S5 generates:

  • 6.3 W savings compared to the previous S5
  • 8,7 W faster than its closest competitor (Pinarello Dogma F)

Weight and material

  • The frameset in size 56 is 124 g lighter by a new carbon lay-up.
  • Despite heftier-looking tube shapes, aerodynamics and rigidity have actually increased

Geometry

  • The bottom bracket sits 2 mm lower, for a lower centre of gravity.
  • Fork span increased slightly.
  • Optimised for tyres up to 30 mm wide

Cockpit

  • Integrated V-voice and handlebars in one piece of carbon, with a larger frontal opening for less turbulence.
  • Upper steerer tube is narrower at the brake levers, with 4 cm flare outwards for extra stability in descents and sprints.
