Leatt, originally renowned in the mountain bike world, broadens its horizons with the brand new Endurance collection, designed specifically for the durability and versatility required by both endurance and gravel cyclists. Cyclingreview.co.uk brings you a great review of the Leatt Endurance 4.0 cycling helmet, a top product from this promising line.

Expansion into gravel and endurance

Leatt is synonymous with durable mountain bike gear, but is now venturing into the gravel and endurance scene. Their latest offering includes a complete line of products, from helmets to bib shorts, wind vests, jackets and gloves, available for both men and women.

The Leatt Endurance 4.0 bicycle helmet under the microscope

The focus today is on the Leatt Endurance 4.0, priced at €189.99, a lightweight and technically advanced choice compared to the slightly heavier Endurance 3.0 which retails for €149.99. Both models offer similar technologies, but the 4.0 stands out with its lightweight construction and is available in sizes S (51-55 cm), M (55-59 cm) and L (59-63 cm). I got the Medium variant. With my 59cm head circumference, it is just right, although the L would probably have been better.

Comfort and functionality first

What immediately stands out about the Leatt Endurance 4.0 cycling helmet is its comfort: no pressure points and even after hours in the saddle, the helmet remains comfortable. The design is streamlined, without the 'mushroom effect' and the helmet features a magnetic Fidlockin strap for quick fastening and an adjustable closure at the back for optimal fit. You can tell from the design, though, that there is an MTB background to this brand.

The helmet is not only comfortable, but also very functional. Your head stays nice and cool thanks to the many ventilation holes. Enough cooling during hot days or intensive rides! A unique design element is the integrated slot for cycling glasses,. There are rubber feet where you can put your glasses behind. This keeps them in place when you take them off and put them in your helmet.

Aesthetics and safety

Besides functionality, the Leatt Endurance 4.0 also offers aesthetics in various colours: in addition to the classic black, white, aqua and granite versions, the 3.0 offers additional colour options such as red, lime and cyan.

Proprietary 'MIPS' system

This helmet has its own fall protection system. Unlike MIPS, Koroyd and Wavecall, the LEATT system is embedded in the helmet. It's basically all little pads, which make you less likely to get a concussion in a fall. Fortunately, I haven't tested that yet, so I take maker LEATT's word for it. In terms of how it works, it is similar to MIPS, which provides extra protection in the event of a fall by absorbing the impact and reducing the risk of head injury.

Conclusion

Guaranteeing safety, comfort and style, the Leatt Endurance 4.0 bicycle helmet is an excellent choice for gravel and endurance cyclists looking for a reliable helmet. Leatt's extensive range for both men and women reinforces their reputation as a versatile supplier of high-quality cycling equipment.

Would I buy this helmet? The answer is yes. It's certainly not light, but it's easy to adjust with the dial on the back, and the proprietary protection system will get you away with it in terms of weight. It sits well on your head and you can get away with it on both gravel bikes and road bikes. Discover the full Endurance & Gravel collection at the Leatt website for more information.
