The new SRAM RED AXS is here! As with previous launches, many dealers were sent a box containing a lock with a code, which could only be opened at launch. Of course, it depends on exactly which configuration you choose, but the group weighs in at just under 2,500 grams. Thereby, it's actually not an entirely new design, but more of a 'refresh'. The shifters have become slightly smaller (which also allows you to save weight. In the battle for grams, this top SRAM group wins over its Shimano counterpart by just under 10 grams. Big up to them. Whether they are also aerodynamically better is of course questionable, but at least it looks tighter. You can brake a lot more directly with a lot less force in your hands. Because of the new design, the brake levers are also mounted slightly differently on your handlebars. The group is still 'just' 12-speed. But with the weight savings and the more direct braking, combined with a more direct shifting system (a narrower cage at the front derailleur), you're going to enjoy heir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So what does that cost?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prices and shifting systems, that's always a thing. What we know is that the SRAM RED AXS cassettes are not cheap. A sloppy \u20ac525 for a cassette can almost be called bizarre. You can buy the complete group from big-box retailer Futurum for \u20ac3350. But you do get the new Hammerhead with it. That's an advantage.
