The brand is positioning the successor to the Evade 3 explicitly for road, gravel, and XC racing, with the central promise of better cooling without loss of aerodynamic performance. The recommended retail price is €329.

More cooling as the main update

The EvadeThe -line has long been a firm favourite among fast riders wanting an aero helmet that also remains wearable on long, hot rides. The fourth generation is all about precisely that tension. Specialised claims that the Evade 4 The 2.4% cooler is cooler than its predecessor, as validated by Thermal Headform tests conducted in-house WinTunnel. In total, over 100 hours of wind tunnel and thermal testing would have gone into the development.

The cooling profit comes according to Specialised door grotere ventilatieopeningen, een aangepaste MouthPort internally 4D cooling channels to lead the air deeper through the helmet. New pads must also help with sweat management. With its pronounced aero profile, the brand is simultaneously aiming for more comfort during long, warm rides.

Whether 2.4% is noticeable in practice naturally depends on speed, temperature and driving position.

Fit and safety

The fit has been updated with the BOA FS2 Fit System, a micro-adjustable 360° construction around the head. Tri-Fix 5- straps offer more adjustment range around the ears and chin than the previous generation. According to Specialised combines the new head shape insights from the Evade 3, Propero 4 and Ambush 3.

On the safety side MIPS Air Node ProTechnology integrated into the pad set. These pads therefore serve a dual function: impact protection and sweat wicking.

Wide application area

Where the Evade 3 primarily positioned as a road helmet, it attracts Specialised The fourth generation is deliberately broader. In addition to the road, the brand names gravel and XC racing as intended applications. For riders who want one high-end helmet for multiple bikes, that's a relevant shift.

The helmet was developed with feedback from WorldTour cyclists Remco Evenepoel, Demi Vollering and Paul Magnier, which emphasises the racial orientation.

Specifications

Area of deployment road, gravel, XC racing

Cooling 4D cooling, WinTunnel tested

Fit: BOA FS2 Fit System, Tri-Fix 5

Safety MIPS Air Node Pro

CE Weight 280 of 290 grams (Manufacturer's task)

CPSC Weight 320 of 330 grams (manufacturer's specification)

Colours White/Red, Satin Root Beer, Matte White, Multi Aurora, Matte Black, Silver/White

Price: €329

By comparison: the Evade 3 woogie 260 grams (S), 270g (M) and 300 grams (L) according to the product page Specialised.
