How pleased I am with my Castelli Perfetto ROS gloves this week. I bought them at Mantel last year to take to the Strade Bianche<\/a>. There the weather was lovely, so they went back home unused. But with the snow this week, I wore my Castelli Perfetto gloves a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was already convinced of the Castelli Perfetto cycling jackets, but now I have the matching gloves to go with them. Also made of the GORE-TEX INFINIUM WINDSTOPPER fabric, so in theory these gloves should be as warm as the jackets. In practice? They are. The gloves may look thin, but they are suitable for temperatures around 6 - 10 \u00b0C, according to the product information. I personally find them warm enough even around freezing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GORE-TEX INFINIUM WINDSTOPPER fabric is wind- and splashproof. Although they will eventually get wet in persistent rain, they retain warmth well, so your hands won't get cold. In heavy rain, it's better to choose a fully waterproof glove, but a shower every now and then these gloves can cope well.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subtle perfection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The glove is plain in design, with only the name Perfetto on the wrist and the Castelli scorpion logo on the outside. The gloves are nice and thin, nothing more annoying than having to cycle (and especially shift gears) with thick gloves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The palm of the Castelli Perfetto RoS has silicone zones for extra grip. In addition, the palm features the Castelli Damping System, giving you a little more comfort on bumpy (gravel) roads. The fleece inner lining has a pleasant feel. The gloves have a tight fit, so check the size carefully before ordering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are there any drawbacks? Despite the neoprene stretch wrist area, the cycling glove is sometimes a bit difficult to put on or take off, especially if it has gotten a bit wet. And you should be able to operate the touchscreen of your smartphone with these gloves, which I find disappointing in practice. If I want to use my smartphone on the road, I have to take off a glove first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thin, warm and weatherproof: the Castelli perfetto ROS gloves have the quality you would expect from Castelli. So the glove lives up to its name - perfetto is Italian for perfect. Only downside is that you can't quite operate a smartphone comfortably with a glove on. But wind and rain are kept at bay, the fleece lining has enough insulating properties to keep your hands nice and warm, and the water resistance is more than enough to withstand hours of light rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
