Garmin launches Edge 550 and 850: compact, smart and feature-packed

Garmin today launched the Edge 550 and Edge 850 announced, two compact cycling computers that are more than just navigation tools. They combine training guidance, smart nutrition and hydration alerts, and new GroupRide data functions in a light and bright package.

With a 2.7-inch colour display, until 36 hours battery life in battery-saving mode and faster map display, Garmin is clearly targeting cyclists who want to pair performance with ease of use. The devices support adaptive training plans via Garmin Cycling Coach and provide insight into individual cycling skills, compared with course and group data.

The Edge 850 offers additional features, including a responsive touchscreen, a digital bike bell via the built-in speaker and even Garmin Pay for contactless payments on the go. A route can also be planned directly from the device.

Security remains a focus: LiveTrack, incident detection and compatibility with Varia radars and cameras are standard. The Edge 550 costs € 449,99, the Edge 850 € 549,99. You buy it on the site or through one of the well-known retailers.
