Garmin launches new EDGE 1050 navigation.

Garmin has presented its latest flagship model and successor to the Edge 1040: the Garmin EDGE 1050. For years, Garmin was the standard among cycling navigation devices but in recent years has faced more competition from Wahoo and also Hammerhead. With new features such as a group ride function and the ability to pay contactless, Garmin wants to set itself apart from the rest again. So the 1050 adds a whole host of new features to the already extensive EDGE 1050 navigation options.

Battery life Garmin Edge 1050

One of the key points at navigation (outside the GPS) is battery life. Something that Garmin has been the leader in it for years. The only party to rival it is Bryton, but that is another story. With Intensive use (whatever that may be) the battery life is 20 hours. If you put'm in economy mode (probably also with less good GPS signal) you can spend up to 60 hours with your Garmin on the road. There's also a new built-in speaker that's going to help you on the road. You can also communicate with other riders in your group, for example to report an incident. This is extra handy. Especially if you lose each other one day.

Prices

The new Garmin Edge 1050 is the flagship and that also reflects in the price of this new GPS computer. For a mere €749.99, you will be the new owner of this Edge. This definitely positions Garmin at the top end of the market. Comparable models from Hammerhead and Wahoo are priced a lot friendlier. With this bike computer, you do get the HRM monitor included.
