LITTA 2 review: Solar-powered bike light

The LITTA 2 is a durable solar-powered bike light. Attach it to your road or gravel bike and you will always get home well-lit. After just 4 hours, the battery is fully charged, which then lasts up to 20 hours (5 hours of which are bright light). It is the ideal back-up for unexpectedly dark rides: with the LITTA 2, you always have reliable bike lighting at your fingertips.

You know the drill. You make a nice bike ride in the evening, but get home just a bit later than expected. Because of a flat tyre, or an extra loop in your route. And where you first thought you would be home in plenty of time, you now suddenly find yourself in twilight. And that is when it is safe to have lights on your road bike.

There are plenty of bike lights on the market that give you enough light in all conditions. But then you have to have the lights on your bike at all times, and keep them constantly charged. Especially for the road cyclist who wants to have lights on his or her bike just to be sure, there is the LITTA 2. Because if you mount these lights on your bike, you will never again have to worry about cycling unexpectedly without lights in the twilight during an evening ride. The LITTA lights charge by themselves using solar energy, last forever, are lightweight and waterproof.

Lighting on your road bike

The lights are ideal for on your road or gravel bike. The lights are certainly not strong enough to cycle on deserted roads in pitch darkness. But they do ensure that you are visible. For this reason, they are perfect for those who want to go for another round of cycling in the evening and are just barely cycling at dusk, or just barely. Weighing 35 grams per light, you can easily leave them permanently on your bike. So you always have lights to cycle safely, even if your ride unexpectedly takes a little longer.

What's nice is that you never have to think about charging the lights. In full sun, the LITTA lights are fully charged in 4 hours, while on a cloudy day it takes 8 hours. After this, the lights' battery is strong enough to provide 20 hours of light, 5 of which will be bright. Even if your bike sits in a dark shed for a few weeks or months, the lights are ready for use. And even now in winter, I find that the LITTA bike lights work surprisingly well.

You attach the lights to your bike using the extra-wide tie wraps provided. I put a piece of black tape under the tie wraps over the handlebars and seatpost. This way they are less likely to be damaged if, for example, grains of sand get under the tie wraps. An additional advantage is that with the non-slip tape, the lights are less likely to slide. By the way, you can attach the lights in 2 ways, with the tie wrap at the bottom or the back of the light.

LITTA 2 review

The LITTA 2 is designed primarily for city bikes, making all those disposable lights that always break or get stolen a thing of the past. How sustainable. But this durable bike light is also great for recreational cyclists. The LITTA 2 is available in black and white. A set of a front and rear lamp costs €20.00, single lamps are €12.00. For each lamp, you get a LITTA tiewrap included. These can also be reordered for €2.00.
