During the 2025 World Cycling Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, the national selection will ride in a completely new set of clothing by Le Patron. The Dutch brand is the official clothing sponsor of the Rwandan cycling federation for the next three years.
Design and production
The new clothes were developed in collaboration with the Basque Etxeondo, known for high-quality racewear. The shirt stands out with a white base colour with accents in blue, yellow and green - the colours of the Rwandan flag. On the fabric are the words Rwanda and Le Patron subtly incorporated into a geometric pattern. This gives the set a recognisable and modern look, without sacrificing functionality.

Technical specifications
The clothing set is designed for use in competition conditions, including the harsh conditions expected in Rwanda. Key features:
- Aerodynamic fit: tight racing fit with minimal seams.
- Breathable fabric: lightweight material that dissipates heat at high temperatures.
- Elastic inserts: ensure freedom of movement and stability.
- Etxeondo padding In the trousers: long-distance comfort with high cushioning.
- UV protection: suitable for intense sunlight during the African summer.
With this equipment, the Rwandan selection will get top-level clothing for the first time, similar to that of WorldTour teams.
By the way, they are not only getting sporty clothes, but Le Patron's casual clothing line is also being updated with a nice 'Rwanda' line.
Partnership
According to Le Patron-CEO Melle van der Veen the collaboration is not just about supplying clothes, but also about supporting cycling culture. Through the programme Friends of Le Patron is invested in the further development of cycling in Rwanda, with a focus on young riders and women.
Conclusion
The new Le Patron x Etxeondo set combines style with high-quality performance. For the Rwandan riders, this represents a clear step towards professionalisation and visibility at the highest level. During the World Cup in Kigali, they will not only distinguish themselves athletically but also visually in a jersey that performs under the toughest conditions.
