On Saturday 10 October it turns into Kailua-Kona In Hawaii again for the world title in the Ironman distance: 3.86 km swim, 180 km bike and a marathon, in heat and hard wind. Canyon has a remarkably strong team at the start, all on the Speedmax CFR.

The men

World Champion of 2023 Sam Laidlow comes to Hawaii after a strong season with course records in Challenge Roth and Ironman Lanzarote. He is also a two-time world champion Patrick Lange start, for the last time in Kona, and Jonas Schomburg He won his first full Ironman this year, in Kalmar.

The women

World Champion of 2024 Laura Philipp is one of my favorites. Competitor Kat Matthews has been second in the last two years and now wants to win. Start further Marjolaine Pierre, Imogen Simmonds and debutante Julie Derron.

The bicycle

The Speedmax CFR is built around four components: AeroShield, AeroFuel (integrated power and hydration), AeroFit and AeroBase. In crosswinds on the notorious Queen K Highway, the bike needs to remain particularly stable, while athletes can eat and drink without leaving their aerodynamic position.

Our perspective

With three former world champions and two second-place finishes from Matthews, there’s a good chance that a Canyon will finish in the front on Saturday. Kona is also always the place where brands show off their latest time trial equipment, so we’re especially paying attention to the bikes.
