Look has released a faster version of its gravelfit bike: the G85 Cezal RS. While the ordinary G85 Cezal is a versatile gravel bike, the RS is made by Look to win gravel races. It must be light, sharp and precise on any surface, for fast gravel and all-road riding.

Light and rigid

  • Frame of 1,000 grams (painted, size M) and 7.9 kilograms for the complete bike with SRAM RED XPLR.
  • 20 percent more expensive In the important places, then the regular G85 Cezal, without sacrificing comfort.
  • According to Look, it converts your strength just as efficiently as the 795 Blade RS, the race bike from the brand.

Comfort from the rear fork

Used Look behind it 3D Wave System: Rear forks that are positioned horizontally with a special shape that can flex upwards. This keeps the rear wheel better on the ground and keeps a more even descent in rough terrain. According to Look, that filters out 15 percent of the vibrations off, without costing any power. This means you don't have to drive with extremely wide tires, which could cause more rolling resistance. The effect would be especially noticeable in the last hours of a long ride or race.

Geometry, tires and suspension

The G85 Cezal RS has a short wheelbase, 425 mm rear forks and a shifted tread pattern, for precise steering in bends and comfort in fast, technical descents. The tire footprint is notably asymmetrical: 57 mm in front and 50 mm in the back. The frame is also suitable for a Suspended fork with up to 60 mm travel.

For aerodynamics, Look primarily looks at the rider. The integrated Aero Carbon RS 3-stuur helps you stay in an aerodynamic position for longer, and is available in 7 handlebar lengths and 3 widths, with 50 mm of height adjustment. The cables run completely through the handlebar and frame.

Versions and prices

  • SRAM Force XPLR with Fulcrum Sharq C25 wheels (42 mm), Hypershift Blue: € 6.990
  • SRAM RED XPLR with Fulcrum Sharq C25 wheels (42 mm), Chrome Orange / Black Carbon: € 8.999
  • Frame set, Chrome Orange / Black Carbon: € 3.290

The bike was developed, painted and assembled in the French region of Burgundy, where Look uses its own gravel roads as a test area. The frame comes with a lifetime warranty.

Our perspective

At 7.9 kilograms and a frame weight of 1,000 grams, the Cezal RS belongs to the lighter gravel racers, and the ability to use 60 mm suspension is smart for those who also race rough terrain. Notably, Look is looking for comfort in the rear end rather than in ever wider tires: 50 mm is the maximum on the rear, where the new Canyon Grail and Colnago G5-X go further. For fast, dry gravel races, that’s no problem; those who ride a lot of mud or rough terrain are better off looking for a bike with more space in the rear.
