Online cycling platform Zwift launches its own Zwift Ride

Online bike training app Zwift, known for its virtual worlds in which you can train and race, is coming out with its own bike. Zwift launches its own Zwift Ride. Previously, the US app builder launched its own trainer. Now it is offering an all-new training bike made specifically for use with the popular app.

Zwift, the global online fitness platform, is launching a complete indoor cycling setup with the Zwift Ride that gives you the full Zwift experience. It is an innovation that combines a Zwift Smart Frame with a Wahoo Kickr Smart trainer. This allows you to use all the functionalities of Zwift to the fullest. With this bike, you get an almost real cycling experience but indoors. Priced at €1299 in the EU market ($1299 in the US), the bike will be available in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia from 26 June 2024.

One key for everything

While designing the Zwift Ride, the goal was to keep everything simple. That's why the Zwift ride only has a 'Frame Key', the only tool you need to build and adjust the bike for your ride. After use, you can store the tool right inside the frame, so it's always to hand. Saddle height, handlebar height and reach can all be adjusted to your needs. This allows people with a height between 1.50 and 1.98 to climb on the bike. Using the enclosed 'fit card', you can determine the adjustment for yourself.

Everything under control

The integrated controllers on the bike allow you to control all the bike's essential functions. So you can virtually shift gears on the Zwift Ride and it's virtually silent. The difference with a normal bike on a trainer, is that the Zwift Ride shifts seamlessly. You can choose between different shifting methods: Shimano, SRAM, or sequential. It makes the Zwift Ride a real 'indoor bike'.

Since most also sweat like an otter, Zwift has mounted two bottle cages on the bike. This way, you always have your drink at hand. They are also special indoor bottle cages, where you can easily put your water bottle. After all, in the virtual world Watopia, you don't have to worry about your water bottle bouncing out of your bike.

Space for your phone and tablet

As the bike is really meant for indoor use, there is plenty of room for your phone, but also for your tablet. The tablet holder is integrated into the handlebars, but you still have to pay an extra €49 for the tablet holder. That's just a shame then. But to quote Eric Min

"We're on a mission to make Zwifting easier by reducing the cost and complexity of hardware. Zwift Ride brings all of the advantages of a smart bike at an incredibly affordable price. It's clean, it's quiet, incredibly simple to set up and adjust, and can be shared with any member of the household. Importantly when I look at my Zwift Ride, it looks like it belongs in my home. I've been riding mine for many months and I can't wait to share the experience with other Zwifters!"

Eric Min, CEO & Founder Zwift
